1. (derogatory and offensive) disagreeable or malicious woman; often, any self-assertive woman;
2. (derogatory and offensive) any female: 'You bitches stay in the car'; (although this sense dates in British slang to the 18th C., its use in Australia is pretty-well a 1990s phenomenon borrowed from US slang where it is common in black English, rap songs, etc.);
3. any person who says something mean and spiteful about another; a person who makes a bitchy comment or does so habitually;
4. (in soap operas, etc.) stock character of a calculating and manipulating woman: 'She plays the new bitch in next season's offering'. See: 'Superbitch';
5. something that causes great displeasure: 'the bitch of a thing won't work';
6. complaint; gripe;
7. complain;
8. to spoil; bungle;
9. exclamation, used as an accU.S.A.tion when someone, either male or female, has said some cruelly cutting remark, or has acted in a very mean way
